Young technologist products are kits that will excite young people and will make electronics fun and interesting whether it is for study or hobby purposes. The Young Technologist product range has been especially developed for eduaction but it also suitable for the keen hobbyist. The products are compact and simply contstructed. All the circuits are basic elecectronic circuits and every single device has a specific function. Each kit comes with instructions and all the necessary components.

    Door alarm

Does your young brother or sister come into your bedroom and you don't notice?

Would you like to raise an alarm when someone is going to look in your secret drawer or under your bed?

You can fix the device to any surface with hook and loop. A warning light will flash and the alarm will sound when the object is moved.

When you do not need to use the device, turn it upside down to de-activate.

The device is very small, easy to use and not easily seen.

The alarm will sound each time the object it is attached to moves. The alarm will also sound continuously unless the device is held vertically. The alarm will remain for a couple of seconds after it is vertically re-positioned. The door alarm uses a 12 Volt battery. N or 23A. When in standby position the alarm uses a small amount of energy so there is no need to turn the device on and off. When the alarm is turned upside down it does not use any energy.

    Live Wire Detector

Has your lamp or fuse blown?

Is your extension lead not working?

Is there electrical power in a socket?

Identify where the source of electricity has failed?

This device is very usful when you are searching for a fault as it indicates where the source of power is. The detector enables you to test for electrical power without having to touch anything.

If the battery is low the led light on the detector will not be as bright as normal. The led light will grow dimmer as the power on the battery diminishes. You can test the strength of the battery by illuminating the led light.

The device is compact, safe and easy to use.

When the switch is pressed the green light will go on to show that the battery is working. When you move the device to the source of electrical power the red light will flash if there is a field of electricity present.

The live wire detector uses a 12 Volt battery. N or 23A. Energy is only used when the button on the front of the device is pressed on.

    Filling alarm

Did the water overflow when you forgot to turn off the tap when filling up your aquarium?

Do you always have to watch the bath to make sure that it does not overflow?

The filling alarm is a useful device when filling any container that takes a long time to fill. The alarm sounds and a light flashes when the water reaches the set level.

The device is portable and easy to use.

When the water reaches the two sensors attached to the device, the alarm will sound and the light will flash. A flexible long cable can be used instead of the stanard rigid wires. The cable allows for the device to be used at greater distances. The cable is not included in the standard kit. There is no on/off switch as energy consumption is extremely low.

The filling alarm uses a 12 Volt battery. N or 23A.

    Light bulb and fuse tester

    Has a fuse blown?
    Is a bulb blown?
Is a material a conductor or isolater?

This is a test device to show the movement of electrons to identify whether a material conducts or not. However, it has been specially designed to test the condition of bulbs, fuses and extensions leads. The device is compact, portable and easy to use.

There is no need for testing leads as your body and your hands substitute for the leads.

Put the device in your left hand and press your index finger on the wire that is located on the right hand side of the case. Put the fuse (for example) in your right hand (holding it by the tip) and press the other end into the wire in the front cover of the case. The light will go on if the fuse is not blown. The bulb can be tested in the same way.

A small wire loop can bemade in the front and the side of the box so that crocodile clips or minature probes can be attached. Leads can be used in place of the wires. Leads are not in the standard kits but can be purchased seperately.

The tester uses a 12 Volt battery. N or 23A. Energy is only used when the button on the front of the device is pressed on.

    3-colour torch

Three different colour high-intensity LED's that can be used as a torch or a light signal. It is in keyring format.

This device is based on the very latest technology.

The torch is usful for finding the doorlock or any items that have been dropped in the dark.

This device is compact, portable and easy to use.

The device has 3 high-intensity LED's blue, yellow and red and there is a non-locking push switch for every LED so that you can use each LED seperately or any combination together.

This device is based on the very latest technology instead of ordinary bulbs and with low levels of energy consumption the life expectancy of the LED is very long.

The device uses a 12 Volt battery. N or 23A.

    Plant water level indicator

This device indicates the level of water in plant containers and if a plant needs watering. Device is attached onto the tree or plant by the crocodile clip and the sensor lead is either placed directly into the compost or into the base of the plant pot where the water source is. When the water level goes below the set level a red light will illuminate on the front of the device box. The sensor lead can be adjusted for varying water level requirements. The device box can be painted with water-based acrylic paints. It can therefore be used as a decoration for the plant or tree.

In Finland (home of Santa Claus) this device is used to indicate the water levels in the base of Christmas trees.

This plant water level indicator is a simple electronic device that uses a 9-volt battery. The indicator has is a special low current LED (1/10 of normal led) so the battery will last for a couple of weeks. In standby mode the battery normally lasts for more than one year.
